Canadian Christian Flag-raising event at Langley City Hall to proceed—even though council rejected the application

Oct 1, 2018 (CultureGuard) — On August 28, 2018, Kari Simpson made an application to the Mayor’s office, pursuant to Langley City’s policy requirements, to fly the Canadian Christian Flag on the National Day of Blessings: October 1, 2018.

On September 25, 2018, via email, Mrs. Simpson received a letter rejecting her request.

Simpson says she isn’t surprised, and adds that she has already engaged legal counsel.

As a Christian, Simpson says she is tired of the bigotry and lack of respect for her community—a community that is foundational to our nation and to the social heritage of freedom, liberty and communal care.  She says she is also concerned that government institutions, facilities and services are increasingly being bullied by sex activists into promoting a clearly political agenda—one that violates the legal principle of neutrality, is extremely costly to taxpayers, and serves only a very small minority.

Simpson said the Canadian Christian flag will be raised, regardless of the religious bigotry and overt discrimination displayed by council. She adds:

“It’s regrettable that Langley City council has decided to actively discriminate against me and other Christians, who were excited to see our flag fly over their city.  Council seems to provide special rights and privileges to those who identify with the Pride flag—a political symbol that is recognized as having a fervent cult following, and that excludes and vilifies anyone who dares to speak against LGBT sex activism.  This is a grave violation of our Charter rights, and an obvious transgression of our right to receive equal treatment of services, under the BC Human Rights Code.”

The National Day of Blessings event will take place October 1 at 4pm at 20399 Douglas Crescent, and those invited to gather will raise the Canadian Christian flag.  The event will feature keynote speakers, including pastors who are recent signatories to the West Coast Christian Accord, worship songs—and our national anthem.
